turbocharged and aftercooled Lugger L6140AL2 is a highly refined
diesel that provides impressive power for its size and weight.
One of the more significant features is its freshwater aftercooler.
The
L6170A embodies the original diesel philosophy of long life,

Komatsu - a world leader in engine technology - it incorporates
advanced features you won't find on any other engine.
A
freshwater aftercooler means the aftercooler element is not
subjected to corrosive seawater. Also, during extended periods
of running light loads, the aftercooler actually warms the
charge air. This results in a uniform combustion temperature,
more complete combustion, less white smoke, and prevention
of carbon deposits.
